Student Leadership Team

Hi! I’m Sara, a fourth-year biological sciences student. I was born in Montreal and moved to
Calgary in 2013. I’m really excited about the upcoming semester and the chance to help kick-start the AIMSS chapter at the University of Calgary.
I love merging my passion for biology with community engagement, and I can’t wait to bring innovative ideas to the initiative!
Fun fact about me: if I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to instantly understand and speak any language. It would be amazing to connect with people from around the world and truly grasp their cultures and stories.

My name is Deema, and I’m in my fourth year of Biological Sciences at UCalgary. My research interests include developmental and computational biology. Coming from a life science background, I initially felt intimidated by computer science. Now, my goal is to inspire young biology students to explore AI with confidence by creating engaging and accessible educational initiatives through AIMSS.

Hi, I am Aaminah, a fourth year student majoring in biological sciences with a concentration in biotechnology. A little bit about myself, I love rainy weather, fall season, and curling up on the couch with a good book. I also really enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have always been very intrigued by the application of AI in medicine/biology. Novel concepts, like using AI to create protein binders, is very interesting and leads to questions like: how can we use such tools to help advance medicine?
I am excited to be a part of the AIMSS chapter at UCalgary and plan out fun events that discuss topics like these.
